Hushed by Paul Mason

Aoraki have been reading the Hushed series by Paul Mason for reading. We absolutely loved the series and were gutted when it ended on such a cliff hanger. Here are some of our ideas for a Part Three.

Miro G's book report

Attack of the Furball

Today we did a book report about our DEAR (Drop everything and read) book. The book I did was Star Wars- Attack of the Furball. It was hard to find a book because I haven't finished my DEAR book yet so I had to choose another one.

Jedi Academy- Attack of the Furball

Title: Jedi Academy- Attack of the Furball
Author: Amy Ignatow and Jarrett J. Krosoczka
Type of book: Fiction

This book is about a girl called Christina Starspeeder who goes to a Jedi Academy on Jedha. It is a story about Star Wars.
She is in a forest destroying illegal loggers when she finds and rescues a baby Nexu, which is a type of animal from Star Wars.
Then her Nexu gets stolen, and she has to save it.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Star Wars!

Curtis' Facts about Matariki

6 true facts about Matariki
There are more than 7 stars in the cluster if you look at a picture of it then you should be able to see more than 7 as proof.
the 7 stars are named Pleiades clusters, or seven sisters, or m45.
The 7 stars are all sibling but in the seven sisters myth, one is their mother.
The Pleiades star cluster is made from gas and dust some were 100 million years ago.
The Zuni of New Mexico call the Pleiade stars the (Seed Stars)
To see more than six or seven stars in the cluster you need to have very good eyesight.

Today for my literacy medals I have chosen to do the Matariki facts.
I liked how it was kind of easy.
I disliked that it was hard to find the facts.

Water Worries- Emily

water worries

How its started
It started where people had longer showers  and after the Christchurch earthquake people learnt that water is one of our most basic needs

Where are we water from?
Like rivers ,streams, lakes, springs, and  even rain water on the roof.

How is it  dirty?
This means everything  you put down your drain ends up in the water supply household: cleaners, paint, animals, waste this dirty water is then back in the water cycle.

Probables they had
They had  their water slowly going away because there had been no rain for a wee while now. Many countries such  as  Australia already have serious water shortages. And some of the worlds biggest rivers are  drying up. Although this hasn't happened in new Zealand, climate change has meant that our rainfall patterns are less reliable.

There solutions:
They  have collected the sea water and Separated the salt to make the Water drinkable  because There  running out of water Scientists have been inspired by coastal plants that suck moisture from the sea fog.

Other water futures:
in the meantime you can help have shorter Showers always think about what your tipping down the drain turn off the tap  when you are brushing your teeth and never Waste that glass of water

Thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed

Miro's Ecosystem Vocabulary

This is my ecosystem vocabulary slide. I had to explain what the words on the slide meant, then take pictures of them. I found it hard to take the pictures because Chromebooks aren't good at taking them and it was raining outside. My favorite part was looking around outside for birds. (I didn't find any). Next time, to be BTB, I could take better/more photos.

Harrison's Ecosystem

literacy medals

Today for literacy medals we had to go outside and draw a picture of our garden and then label things with our ecosystem words. the easiest part for me was drawing the picture because it only took 10 minutes. And my favourite part was going outside and drawing the picture. And the hardest part for me was probably remembering what a consumer and stuff like that is but now I know how to do it.

Ecosystem Drawing

Ecosystem drawing

After learning about the ecosystem yesterday we had to draw an ecosystem near our house. I decided to draw the paddock beside my house. After drawing it we had to label everything. I enjoyed getting to draw it. I found it challenging to get the cow the right length(I did it too long.) To be BTB(Better Than Before) I could outline everything in pen.
